Power for America Training Trust Fund (P4A)
The Power for America Training Trust Fund’s (P4A) programs provide quality safety and skills training to keep our members at the top of their fields. With this support from P4A and our national employer partners, UWUA members are some of the highest-skilled utility workers in the industry.
P4A Training Offerings
P4A believes that the union-training-union model is the best way to train utility workers. P4A instructors and temporary union instructors provide safety and skills training to 5,000 members annually. These trainings make UWUA members’ workplaces safer and increase productivity. Filling the Skills Gap
The Power for America Training Trust (P4A) has been upskilling and training individuals for careers in the utility sector for over a decade. The P4A’s mission is to provide individuals with the highest quality training in an ethical and responsive manner that meets the needs of the industry and the global marketplace.
The peer-to-peer training model provides specialized instruction to enhance skill levels, promote safety training and educate individuals on emerging technology to increase productivity. The program has grown from two participating employers to 15 over the years. Additionally P4A, in partnership with Consumers Energy, has developed the country’s first Department of Labor-certified apprenticeship program in renewable energy. Unlike many other renewable training programs, which revolve predominantly around wind energy, the P4A apprenticeship includes training in wind, solar, and battery technologies.
With its decade-long experience in providing safety and skill-based training to utility industry workers, the P4A is well positioned to prepare utility workers for the evolving utility sector landscape.
