Solidarity for Climate Action Policy Platform
The UWUA recently joined all 14 coalition partners at the BlueGreen Alliance in releasing a policy platform aimed at creating good-paying jobs and fighting income inequality by addressing the climate crisis. This detailed platform —entitled Solidarity for Climate Action—would put workers at the forefront of the ongoing discussion about how America will tackle climate change. It is the most comprehensive plan to date aimed at addressing climate change put forward by this partnership of some of America’s largest unions and environmental organizations.
The Solidarity for Climate Action platform addresses the dual crises of climate change and income inequality in a number of ways, including calling for rapid reductions of greenhouse gas emissions to put America on a pathway of reducing its emissions, in a technology-neutral manner, to net zero by 2050 and incentivizing immediate investments in both clean and renewable technologies, as well as energy efficiency across all sectors; efforts to increase union density across the country through strong support of the right to organize throughout the economy, including in the energy sector; and rebuilding and modernizing America’s infrastructure and making our communities more resilient.
More information about the platform appears below. Please reach out to UWUA National Director of Government Affairs, Lee Anderson, for additional questions, firstname.lastname@example.org.
