UWUA Local G-555 President Paul Talboo was sworn in as a member of the UWUA Executive Board in late April, bringing more than two decades of industry and union experience to the role.
Talboo began his career at Dominion East Ohio Gas (now Enbridge) in 2000 as a meter reader before moving into the engineering department as a distribution designer, a position he held for much of his career. He became active in the union early on, serving as a steward, district vice chair, and engineering representative before joining Local G-555’s executive board as treasurer in 2015. He later served as vice president and now leads the local as president.
On the national board, Talboo plans to focus on connecting locals to share what’s working and on bringing new tools — including emerging technologies — into the union’s bargaining and member-support work.
“I’m looking forward to learning from others and finding creative ways to move the union forward,” he said.
Talboo’s connection to the union spans generations. His mother is a G-555 retiree, and his father was also a member before leaving to serve in Vietnam. Upon his return, he chose to join the Plumbers Union, following his own father and grandfather into the Cleveland Building Trades.
The thread now extends to the next generation: one of his two adult children, a daughter, is married to a fellow G-555 member. Talboo and his wife, who also spent time at Dominion early in their marriage, live in Ohio and celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in May.
