When I first joined the union, I was searching for a sense of belonging — a place where my voice mattered. The Women’s Caucus became that space. Surrounded by women who understood the unique challenges we face, I found not only solidarity but inspiration. Through shared stories, workshops, and advocacy, I learned to speak up — not just for myself, but for others who felt unseen.
Being part of the caucus has shown me that strength truly comes from unity. We are more than our job titles — we are leaders, mentors, and advocates. The caucus has given me the tools to confront challenges head-on and to help others do the same. The friendships and professional relationships I’ve built through this group have been invaluable, offering encouragement and perspective whenever I’ve needed them most.
One thing that has made a tremendous difference is the unwavering support my local union has shown the Women’s Caucus. From the beginning, local leadership championed our initiatives, provided resources, and encouraged participation from all members. Whether sponsoring events, promoting workshops, or ensuring our voices are heard at every level, Local 132 has consistently demonstrated its commitment to empowering women. This support has allowed the caucus to grow, thrive, and make a real impact. It’s clear that my local values the contributions and perspectives of women, helping create a more inclusive and supportive environment for everyone.
Through union-led training — from leadership development to conflict resolution and advocacy — I’ve gained the confidence and skills to help others find their own voices. With the union’s backing, I feel empowered to stand up for what’s right and work toward a more equitable workplace. Being a union member has truly transformed my career, giving me a network of support and the assurance that I’m never alone in facing workplace challenges.
I strongly encourage every woman in our union to join us. You are not alone — together, we can empower one another, lift each other up, and hold each other accountable. And remember: as women, we often put everyone else’s needs before our own, but self-care is not selfish — it’s essential. Take care of yourself so you can continue to be a blessing and a support to others.
