UWUA awarded its 2025 scholarships this summer to five regional winners. Each recipient received $2,000 toward continuing their education.
Region I
Brandon Strouse is the son of Peter Strouse, an electrician with the Suffolk County Water Authority and a member of Local 393, and Caren Benesz. He is a graduate of East Brunswick High School in New Jersey, where he played varsity volleyball and developed a passion for photography, capturing images of his school’s athletic events. Brandon is studying photography at Middlesex County College with the goal of becoming a sports photographer.
Region II
Logan Dixon is a graduate of Scranton Preparatory School, where he played soccer all four years, and is now studying justice and law at American University in Washington, D.C. He hopes to build a career centered around helping people. He is the son of Richard and Nadine Dixon. His father, a 35-year employee of Pennsylvania American Water, is a leak detection specialist and member of Local 648.
Region III
Isabelle Menefee is enrolled in the aviation technology program at Bowling Green State University. She will graduate with her commercial and instrument pilot’s licenses and aspires to become a commercial airline pilot. She is considering entering the Air Force after college. The daughter of Robert Menefee, a substation electrician with First Energy and member of Local 126, and Elisha Menefee of Green, Ohio, Isabelle attended Green High School where she was on the gymnastics team.
Region IV
Jase Wanamaker is a graduate of Otsego High School in Michigan, where he played on both the basketball and golf teams. Now at Cedarville University in Ohio, he is studying broadcasting, with dreams of a career in sports commentary. Jase is the son of Justin Wanamaker, a journeyman pipeline welder for Consumers Energy and member of Local 150, and Kim Wanamaker. He has two younger sisters.
Region V
Aubrey Park, a graduate of Vista Murrieta High School in California, was captain of the varsity dance team, a National Honor Society member, and student government treasurer. She is attending UC Santa Barbara and majoring in biochemistry, with a goal of becoming an orthopedic surgeon. Aubrey is the daughter of Amy and Nikolaus Park. Her father, an instrument specialist at SoCal Gas, serves as area officer of Local 483.
