WASHINGTON, DC (July 25, 2024) – The Utility Workers Union of America (UWUA), AFL-CIO today announced its support for Vice President Kamala Harris for president after an executive board meeting and vote to endorse her campaign earlier today. The following is a statement from UWUA President James Slevin:
“Vice President Harris has been an outspoken advocate for working families. Over the course of her long career, she has demonstrated strong support for causes our members care about including organizing, infrastructure investment, good union jobs, and many other pro-worker policies. She’s the only pro-worker candidate in this presidential election. We know we can count on her to carry forward the gains we’ve made on behalf of the labor movement over the past four years.
“We are tremendously grateful for everything President Biden has accomplished during his term. He will be remembered as the most pro-union president since FDR and for putting the best interests of the American people first. Notably, both he and Vice President Harris walked picket lines alongside our UAW brothers and sisters and they set us on a better economic path than we were on following the previous, disastrous administration. We thank President Biden for his leadership.”
