WASHINGTON, DC (JANUARY 21, 2021) – President Biden yesterday fired National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) General Counsel Peter Robb, an anti-union official. Utility Workers Union of America (UWUA), AFL-CIO President James Slevin today released the following statement in reaction to the decision:
“It’s very meaningful that one of President Biden’s first decisions on his first day in office was to remove the most anti-union general counsel we’ve ever seen at the NLRB. As general counsel, Peter Robb’s sole agenda has been to destroy unions, eliminate labor rights and undermine the National Labor Relations Act. Robb’s firing will set the NLRB back on a pro-worker path and likely stop a number of anti-union initiatives he oversaw including undermining neutrality agreements, misclassifying workers so they can’t be in a union and other measures that limit unions’ ability to organize and bargain good contracts.
“This step will have a meaningful impact on our members’ working lives in the immediate term and shows President Biden is already making good on his commitment to working families.”
