UWUA Statement on Biden Administration’s Energy Secretary Appointment

WASHINGTON, DC (DECEMBER 16, 2020) – Today Utility Workers Union of America (UWUA) President James Slevin released the following statement in response the anticipated nomination of Jennifer Granholm as the next Secretary of Energy.

“The stakes are high for America’s energy workforce over the next several years and we look forward to working closely with former Michigan Governor Granholm to ensure those who operate and maintain our energy infrastructure have a say in the policies that impact them.

“In support of that goal, we expect the incoming secretary to take a science-driven, technology neutral approach to domestic energy policy. Following the internationally recognized science from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) offers the best possible roadmap to reach our climate goals without sacrificing thousands of good, family-supporting jobs.”
