Local 555 Wins 5-Year Contract at Seabrook Nuclear

“The most important thing that occurred in this round of bargaining is the solidarity that we had as a membership” —Ted Jenis

On December 1, 2016, UWUA Local 555 members overwhelmingly ratified a new collective bargaining agreement with NextEra at the Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant in New Hampshire.

The new agreement provides the roughly 200 members with great general wage increases, health care improvements, and other hard fought enhancements to their contract. The new agreement also provides job security for the next five years to the Local 555 utility workers at the plant.

“The most important thing that occurred in this round of bargaining is the solidarity that we had as a membership,” says Local 555 President Ted Jenis. “That made it possible for the Executive Board to go into negotiation meetings aggressively to fight for the things we needed and not back down.”

The ratification vote was 135 – 7 in favor of the contract.
