Defend Democracy in Benton Harbor!

Join with Union members and concerned citizens in Benton Harbor, MI on Saturday, May 7th to send a clear message to Governor Snyder about his takeover of our towns!

The Governor is this year’s marshal of the Bloomtime Parade in Benton Harbor, a city where citizens have been stripped of their democratic rights through the Governor’s new “Emergency Financial Manager” (EFM) law. Governor Snyder and Republicans in the state legislature passed the EFM law which allows them to unilaterally disband locally-elected city councils and school boards, terminate collective bargaining agreements and other contracts, and make decisions that impact people’s lives and livelihoods.

Let’s show our strength in numbers and our solidarity with the people of Benton Harbor by coming out in force to line the parade route and protest the loss of democracy in Michigan.

The event will start at 11 a.m. and should end around 3 p.m. We will assemble at City Hall, then move to the parade route to greet Snyder and let him know that EFM is undemocratic!
