Voter Backlash at Anti-Union Republicans

In a column in today's Washington Post Harold Meyerson reveals polling that shows major voter backlash against the effort of Republican governors to destroy public employee collective bargaining, enact right-to-work-for-less, and weaken organized labor's political influence in America.

In Florida Republican Governor Rick Scott has only 29 percent favorability and 54 percent disapproval.

In Wisconsin Gov Scott Walker would now lose in a recall election by as much as 10 points to Russ Feingold.

Ohio Gov John Kasich has only 33 percent approval rating and his disapproval is now is 56 percent and by 55 to 35 percent margin Ohioans now say they will vote in the fall to strike down the disastrous SB 5.

In Michigan Gov Rick Snyder has a 33 percent approval rating and 60 percent disapproval rating.

Even in New Jersey with Republicans great hope Chris Christie, his approval rating is now only 40 percent and his dispprovals are 60 percent.

There is now major public backlash against the core of the GOP agenda--destroying worker rights and destroying Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security as we know it.

The Chamber of Commerce, Karl Rove, and Grover Norquist may have activated the tea-baggers but they've narrowed their base to the most ideological right wingers.

In addition, 37 percent of REPUBLICANS say they are dissatisfied with the current crowd of Republican candidates for president in 2012.

Its way too early to be singing Happy Days Are Here Again but it is clear that average Americans don't cotton to Republican efforts to subvert freedom including workers rights to bargain collectively.
