UWUA 29th Constitutional Convention
The UWUA 29th Constitutional Convention was held June 22 - June 25 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The convention featured a personalized video from Hilda Solis, United States Secretary of Labor; a moving message from Ed Schultz, a well known figure on MSNBC; live broadcasts from Charles Showalter on The Union Edge radio show; heartfelt speeches from members; and a priceless learning experience for all participants waiting to get back home and share their knowledge with their locals. Michigan State House OKs New Congressional Districts
Despite the threat of a legal challenge, the state House of Representatives approved redrawn districts for Michigan’s 14 seats in Congress. The 63-47 vote was nearly a straight party line vote with most Republicans supporting the redistricting maps and most Democrats opposing. The new maps now move to the state Senate for consideration next week. Read More
